Reconstruction of Asia Market Owned by the State-Owned Corporation of Arzaq Progressing Rapidly
The reconstruction and renovation of Asia Commercial Market, owned by the State-Owned Corporation of Arzaq under the General Directorate of State-Owned Enterprises, is progressing rapidly and in an organized manner.
According to the Real Estate Directorate of the State-Owned Corporation of Arzaq, Asia Commercial Market is located in the Mirwais Square (Kot-e-Sangi) area of Kabul City's Third District. The four-story market has been built on a 960-square-meter plot of land. The ground floor accommodates electrical appliance shops, the second and third floors house repair centers for these appliances, and the fourth floor operates as a hotel.
Engineer Obaidullah Karimi of the Real Estate Directorate stated that the market's reconstruction is being carried out systematically in accordance with technical standards. He said that non-standard stalls have been removed and reorganized in line with the market's internal layout and engineering standards.
He added that the renovation of the rooftop drainage system, skylights, railings, floor paving, ceramic tiling, installation of stair stones, and rehabilitation of the water supply system are also underway.
According to him, ceramic tiling on the second and third floors, installation of railings, floor paving, and plastering have already been completed, while the remaining construction works are expected to be finalized in the near future.
He noted that once these reconstruction works are completed, the market's appearance will become more standardized, improved facilities will be provided for shopkeepers, and conditions will be created for expanding economic activities and increasing revenues.
Officials of the company's Real Estate Directorate stated that Asia Commercial Market was returned to the control of the State-Owned Corporation of Arzaq from a private contractor at the end of last year. They added that all commercial operations of the market are now being managed directly by the company, which is expected to play a significant role in increasing the company's revenues and further improving the organization of its financial affairs.
According to company officials, Asia Commercial Market contains approximately 180 shops and commercial stalls, which are currently used for various business activities and have created employment opportunities for dozens of citizens.
